Standard Flake Finish & What You Can Expect From UGF

The Standard Flake Finish is our most requested finish. With more than 200 color formulas to choose from and the ability to customize, the possibilites are almost endless. Not only do the color flakes add esthetic value, but provide a slip resistant texture and are great for concealing debris and minimizing concrete imperfections.

When considering a custom concrete coating, utilizing the best products the industry has to offer, experience and a fair price should be top priorities. With the selection of our Standard Flake Finish, here's what you can expect from Ultimate Garage Floors™:

-Preparation of the concrete surface by diamond grinding This process not only prepares the surface for the acceptance of penetrating products, but does not introduce acid into the concrete slab that, with time, can deteriorate the concrete underneath a coating.

-Crack and/or concrete repair (as needed) Cracks are opened up with a V shaped diamond wheel designed specifically for that purpose. Opened cracks and areas in need or repair are filled with an engineered grout and ground smooth.

-Filling control/expansion joints (optional) UGF has developed a unique system of filling control joints while preserving their ability to function. Joints are filled with a flexible material that is able to expand and contract with temperature changes, resulting in a seamless, functional surface.

-Coating exposed foundation stemwalls (optional) The gap between the foundation stemwalls and concrete slab is caulked and the stemwalls are coated, typically in the same flake finish as your floor.

-Application of a penetrating pre-primer Imperative to the longevity of your floor coating, the use of a deep penetrating primer ensures just what its name implies...deep product penetration.

-Oil-Stop application (if needed) In addition to the pre-primer application, older concrete slabs with oil stains and other contaminants may also require an Oil-Stop application. This treatment locks in contaminants and prevents them from resurfacing.

-Application of a penetrating tinted epoxy base By using a penetrating epoxy, as opposed to a surface application that can chip and peel, a penetrating epoxy creates a permanent bond by infusing the concrete slab below.

-Broadcasting of vinyl paint flakes Depending upon the color formula you select, we average 45-50 pounds of paint flakes for every 500 square feet of flooring installed, and strive for no less than 95% coverage of the tinted epoxy base coat.

-Application of polyaspartic topcoat Polyaspartic is the finest topcoat available, not only offering a harder surface with greater impact and chemical resistance than a polyurethane topcoat, but allowing for foot traffic within 2 hours of application. Polyaspartic is not a user friendly product, however, skill and experience in working with this product are essential to assuring you a beautiful finish.
