Polyurea and polyaspartic flooring (One-Day Install) systems allow for a full garage or concrete floor coating installation in 8–12 hours, with walk-on time in 4–5 hours and vehicle traffic in 24 hours. This floor is not nearly the quality of a true epoxy garage floor. There are many disadvantages of floor projects done with this inexpensive and inferior process.
Key Failures of the “One-Day Floor” process
- Inadequate Floor Prepartion: The quality of your floor is in the preparation! With a “One-Day” polyeurea floor projects, installers are pretty much skipping most of the important preparation steps that make a quality job.
- Poor Bonding: Because Polyeurea cures so fast, it doesn’t properly penetrate the concrete to form a strong bond. This creates a superficial coating that is just resting on the surface of the concrete. This means big problems later on.
- Hot Tire Pull-Off: The Polyaspartic clear coat contains acrylic and with hot tires, it will soften and get sicky, pulling dirt out of your tires and them permanently embedding the dirt into the soft finish. This cannot be cleaned later on.
